The Sand
I like to tell this story because it still gives me butterflies whenever I think about it. Larry asked me on our first official date and asked that I leave the planning up to him. I was to come see him in San Clemente where he lived, and spend the day with him. I arrived at his place on Calle Mirador around late afternoon, his studio apartment was impeccable, it overlooked the city and had a little peek-a-boo view of the ocean. It was absolutely breathtaking out there. First we grabbed a couple of beers and coozies and walked down to the beach which was a block away, there we talked and got to know each other a little better. After walking back home we jumped in his truck and he took me around the city, we had a few cocktails at Fisherman's on the pier then headed to trestles where he surfed. At trestles we ran into his friend that gave him my number, can you say embarrassing!! It was all good Tony was a great guy and later became a real close friend of ours along with his beautiful wife Makiko. The third stop on our date was Beachfire restaurant, it was dim and they had live music playing. I can still remember what we had for dinner, we sat there and had a couple of cocktails then headed to the pier to walk off our dinner. Afterwards we went back to his place where we talked for hours, for the first time in years I felt shy and nervous. I couldn't look at him in the eye and even more after he confessed he wanted to kiss me (I thought it was kind of nice that he told me instead of just going for it) and I totally got stuck and just nervously giggled. I must've made him feel weird or something because he didn't kiss me. When it was time for me to go home he walked me to my car, I said thank you and gave him a hug and again we stood there awkwardly waiting for each other to make a move. We smiled and both went for it, it was amazing and I'll never forget our first kiss. I couldn't get enough of him, he was perfect and I finally felt happy again. I found my prince charming and I had no plans of letting him go.
